A Trip to David Peck

I visited the David Peck showroom yesterday, and it was such a great experience. From styling a few looks to browsing the racks to saying hello to the fabulous David Peck team, it was a fun couple hours. David Peck’s pieces are so truly beautiful and of such great quality. His current collection consists of warm colors, bright colors, lightweight fabrications, heavier fabrications, and so many jaw dropping prints. I fell in love (more than once) with various dresses and blouses. I could see so many of his pieces fitting just perfectly into my closet. As I’ve said time and time again, I love color and I love prints. While I do cherish my greys and blacks, I have such a soft spot for vibrant colors and bold prints. Well, it seems David Peck has that very same soft spot.

how to dress for…a summer wedding

Wedding season is in full swing right now. You want to enjoy getting ready for the celebration of your friends tying the knot; not be stressed about what to wear to the event. Summer weddings are mostly about color, in my mind. This is the time I steer away from black. I still think navy is perfectly fine (I know I know – the 2 colors aren’t THAT far away from each other on the color wheel, but I’m still ok with it). Bright colors are totally acceptable and actually a great choice. Pastels, bold colors, stick to navy – whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. In terms of shoes, opt for open toe and strappy. If you would rather wear a pump or a closed-toe style of some sort, stay away from black. This is the most carefree season of the year, so while you still want to look appropriate for a summer wedding (always check the attire on the invitation), you don’t need to dress as you would for the middle of winter. Below are some fabulous dress options for this very occasion.

I know it’s not officially summer yet, but the heat in Houston is beyond right now and feels like the heart of the summer (at least it does to me because apparently this isn’t that bad to most people here). And, yes, I know ‘it’s only going to get worse’ (is what I keep hearing), but it’s hard to imagine how much hotter it can get. I used to live in Texas when I was younger, but the past couple days have seriously felt warmer than I ever remember it feeling here. Walking from my car into a store feels like the hottest sauna I’ve ever been in. HELP!

However, I know I’ll get used to it, and on the positive side I can wear shorts and dresses every single day. THAT excites me. Lightweight, breezy clothing works for me, all the time. Summer dresses are some of my favorite items in my closet. And the following items I plan on incorporating into my summer wardrobe somehow, someway.
