An Outfit I Love

Sometimes there are those outfits you just love and keep going back to. One of my staple outfits is the tee/blazer/pant look. Typically, my day consists of working from home, followed by appointments and/or meetings, running around, a lunch, and then back to my home office to finish up my work. Usually I’ll end the day with drinks or dinners with Matthew or friends. One of my favorite outfits that works with my schedule (most of the time) is the following: a fabulous tee, chic pants, a great blazer, some jewelry, and flats. Given the fact that I am all over the place during the day, heels aren’t always my go-to. There are definitely times I need to dress up more during the day, but this outfit usually works perfectly.

The Black Skirt

The other day I was getting dressed and realized I don’t own enough black skirts. This item could be the most versatile piece in your entire wardrobe. Whether you work in a corporate environment or not, a black skirt can take you from morning to noon to night, without a doubt. If in an office setting you can wear a more tailored black skirt with a blouse and blazer or cardigan. If you work in a more casual environment you can still wear that black skirt, and ‘funk it up’ with a more casual top, vest, and accessories. Wearing a black skirt out at night is also such a perfect option, whether with heels or ballet flats, with or without tights, and any top in your closet. The great thing about black skirts is that you can truly wear them with anything. I pulled together some of my current favorite styles that I seriously need to add to my wardrobe immediately.

summer dressing

I know it’s not officially summer yet, but the heat in Houston is beyond right now and feels like the heart of the summer (at least it does to me because apparently this isn’t that bad to most people here). And, yes, I know ‘it’s only going to get worse’ (is what I keep hearing), but it’s hard to imagine how much hotter it can get. I used to live in Texas when I was younger, but the past couple days have seriously felt warmer than I ever remember it feeling here. Walking from my car into a store feels like the hottest sauna I’ve ever been in. HELP!

However, I know I’ll get used to it, and on the positive side I can wear shorts and dresses every single day. THAT excites me. Lightweight, breezy clothing works for me, all the time. Summer dresses are some of my favorite items in my closet. And the following items I plan on incorporating into my summer wardrobe somehow, someway.
