Summer Blouses

summer-blouses

I don’t know about where you live, but here in Houston it feels like the heart of summer. I’m talking humidity and lots of heat. When it comes to this time of year, I live in shorts and blouses. The majority of my closet is filled with all sorts of blouses. Every color, every print, and every fabrication you will likely find in my wardrobe. It’s easy to throw on shorts and a blouse, the look can be dressed up or down, and it’s totally comfortable. While I may own tons of this summer staple, I’m always in the market for new ones. I’ve rounded up some of my current favorites.

winter blues and colorful hues

I know we’re in the heart of winter right now, but I’m craving color. I’ve said it before that I’m a color person. I have plenty of neutral shades in my closet, and of course, I have the necessary black pieces that I adore, but I do love color. When it’s cold and rainy out, I can’t help but get a case of the winter blues (and I know I’m down south so I really can’t complain that much about cold weather). Color instantly lifts my mood, and while it may be jacket and boot weather, I still throw in color any chance I get (hence the pink tweed blazer I wore to my birthday dinner on Monday night). Accessories are always an easy way to throw in that touch of color if you still want to keep the rest of your ensemble a more neutral, winter-friendly palette. I’ve rounded up some of my current favorite colorful accessories below.

Silk

This time of year I’m always on the hunt for silk blouses. I know it’s a fabric you can wear year round, but because it takes on a dressier feel, I tend to think of it during the holidays. Whether it’s a print or solid, bold colors or neutral, silk tops are beautiful and classic. They pair perfectly with jeans for a more casual look or a skirt for something a bit nicer. They can easily take you from day to night, and I’m currently in love with more than one.
